So many choices - and milks are great snakes. Hondurans are my favorites and I have attached photos of a couple of ours - both tangerines, but the male is a lot cleaner than the female - less black tipping on scales. They are nutcases as babies - very active, intense and all over the place when you first pick them up - far more than a cornsnake or cal king in my experience. No musking, but have bitten as youngsters when they feel you are ticking them off - a sort of chewing bite too - not just the open mouth strike of some. They settle down well as adults and can get to be big - 4 feet average, but our old female is almost 6 ft. Very impressive snake at that size. They eat a lot (and virtually everything) and they poop a lot (couple large, smelly ones a week) so they would be a real change from boids. Ours are active at dawn and dusk but pretty reclusive during the day - don't bask like our cal kings.

Female honduran (she is gravid now and a lot bigger these days)

We have one Mexican milk and he is a real sweetie - at maturity is less than 3 feet. Again reclusive but active during evening, very gentle, no musking and wouldn't dream of biting. Ours is a very easy keeper - couple fuzzy mice every other week, but sensitive - easily frightened by larger prey - ours was scared by excessive dangling of a thawed hopper over a year ago and has not been willing to take a hopper since. They are very pretty snakes, managable size, quiet in hand and underappreciated I think.

I agree with vanderkm. Hondurans are the tops! They are soooo colorful, have great personalities, and an adult Hondo is one IMPRESSIVE snake. They are my all-time favorite colubrid. Hands-down.
Good luck in your choice!

When you're talking "milksnakes", It's very hard to go wrong with a Honduran. Their size, colors and personnality make them stand out among other milks. There is also a lot of morphs and double/morphs available on the market for these snakes!
Another favorite of mine is the Pueblan Milksnake but, beware... You will learn to recognize the smell of musk before they are tame. But their incredible colors and hardiness makes them very popular...

one thing i dont like about kings/milks, their heads are the same size of their body. looks as if they dont have a head and only a face.

I don't keep any milks right now but I have in the past. I have not kept New Mexican's but I have kept tangerine hondurans. I love the hondurans they are a beautiful snake and I found mine to be fairly docile and easy to care for. If your choices are the New Mexican's or Hondurans I would choose the Hondurans but I have a biased opinion seeing as I have never kept New Mexican's.
Hope this helps.
Steve
Gotta love those milks. really have to get that house to house them all.
