Well, it seemed like forever, but I've got 'em now!
Finally took delivery of my pair of Trans-Pecos Rat Snakes (Bogertophis subocularis). These are, in my humble opinion, the best and most unique of the North American Rats.
I can't understand why they get so little attention here in Canada.
I use to produce a few of these (can't track down a single one, though), and I'm really happy to have "subocs" back in my collection.
This is a crummy pic of the male. My camera batterys were dying...

Thanks for looking!

I keep them too, I think they get too little attention all around. They are wonderful snakes, and pretty fun to find in the wild here in TX too.
Here's a beauty you might like. :)

Wow those are nice....Simon I don't know why there is not more interest up here either in a snake like that! Very pretty! I like his neck markings...very cool.

Ham; What morph is that one? Nice.
I sold off most of my collection five or six years ago, and I've been missing my subocs ever since. I've been looking for the species here in Canada, but in two years of intensive searching I've found NONE!
Anyway, a good friend was instrumental in helping me acquire my new pair from the U.S.
These MAY be the only locale-specific subocs in the country!
Simon
congrats simon that morph looks great best of luck with your future project.

Hi all. Nice snakes people. I too keep T.P.R.S. I have an older female for a couple years now & aquired a young male fairly recently. Unfortunately he is too small to try this year, but hopfully he will stud her next year. Oh yeah I forgot to mention mine are "Blondes". I think Annette Thompson "Wrapped Up In Reptiles" or Nett on here may have some. Pat Dring out by Vancouver may have some also? I'll have to post some pics of mine. I actually got my male from Darren (McPatch on here) in a deal where he got my female Hogg Isle Boa, so a double thx to McPatch because of the young male + I get the Hogg back this Sat. WOO HOO! Well, It's nice to see some suboc keepers come out of the wood-work..lol!
I was beginning to think that I was the only one.
Mark; When you are eventually successful in producing Blondes, please let me know. I'd love to get a pair.
Cheers!

Yeah, they do have bug eyes. I think the eyes are their best feature.:) I have a female that I bought for Nick for his birthday this year. She tamed down well, and is very active and inquisitive. She looks a lot like Simon's in the first pic - nice dark saddles. I think I'll probebly end up with another of these guys at some point.

Here is my female. Apparently she is a relatively long-term captive, wild-caught specimen. I'd estimate that she is about two years of age. She is well-adjusted and eats thawed mice with no problems at all.
