I woke up this morning, checked on little IJs and found one of my babies dead. :(
Very depressing.

Also, I'm STILL waiting on 4 those eggs... they look fine, but boy are they taking a long time.

Sorry to hear this, but don't blame you. You are good snake keeper so it's just nature way. Good luck with those 4 last.

Don't feel bad. The first clutch of hatchlings I had last year two of them wouldn't eat. I tried everything but they didn't make it. Sometimes there is nothing you can do. MMmm.......maybe I sould get some IJ.:D

No I have no idea what happened... He looked alive, but I poked at him when he didn't flick his tongue at me, and he didn't move.

Poor baby :(

How are you keeping your hatchlings?

Oh Zoe I'm so sorry. That sucks! Just keep telling your self that some times these things happen. That's why they lay more then one egg right. The rest will be fine you'll see! Chin up bud.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss. It's not much consolation to think that in the wild probably one one would survive but that's the kind of thought you should hold onto right now. You are giving the babies a far better chance of a good long lifetime than their wild cousins face.

Sorry to hear of that Zoe, like Dom said, i too would pip the eggs.
Sometimes they arn't strong enough to break the shell.
If you wait too long, they may not make it either.

Again, im sorry.

I'll post this again since there has been no reply. The hatchlings need to be kept on wet paper towel and kept with high relative humidity. They are very seseptable to dehydration until their first shed. Don't hold them too much as you will stress them too. And temps need to be in the mid 80's 24hrs. a day until they shed and feed as well.
