 I've had my Columbian Boa for about one month now, and this is the first thing that has confused me. I fed it yesterday (baby rat) and i noticed today that it's body had become alot darker and they were dark spots on it. It was hiding under the substrate all morning. It is about 2 mnths old and i haven't a clue if this is normal for Boas or if it is something to worry about. If someone could please help me out that would be great. I am trying to borrow a digital camera to post pics of it, but that could take a week.

P.S. The temp and humidity have reamained constant but i added another water dish and a climbing vine in the last week.

I've heard that they change colors it seems my little brothers does. I don't get to see his much sometimes it;s a light color other times it's darker. I think it's got something to do with the time of day.

The breeder told me that his is changing too, and he thinks it might be related to shedding but he's not 100%

All snakes darken and dull down in colour prior to a shed. Is his belly turning pink? This is indicative of a shed. In addition, boas darken noticably when they are stressed, sick, and the most common reasons are due to time of day (lighter at night usually), and according to temperature (cooler body temp means dark body colour). As for hiding, many snakes prefer to lay low while they are digesting their meals.
