<center>Kind of crappy! This is this females first year producing for me and she ended up aborting about 3 weeks early.. In total there were 18 slugs and 3 still born.. Not the best thing to come home to after work!

I'm still waiting on 5 other females this season with are all looking great so hopefully things get a little bit better as the season goes on. I just thought I would share some photos' of what I found yesterday...

No worries guys....

This is the first litter that hasn't gone well for me but it was bound to happen sooner or later.. I take this as a learning experience and a positive one at that... I’ve been fortunate enough to produce some very beautiful boas in the past so I count my blessings..

By sharing my experiences good or bad I feel I can help other people out with their questions or maybe even their own animals... The thing is to remain positive and "Always the Optimist" :) Some people feel that keeping things like this circumstance to themselves is the better route, almost as if they feel the experience is of less value or credit to themselves or others.. I feel there’s no such need to do so… I’m very open and honest with all of my knowledge and experience..

I've got a pile more neonates on the way yet and I'm very excited to see what this year brings... Good luck to all of you this season. :D

Hey Darren, I know you know how I feel, but still, glad to see you have such a good attitude towards this sad event.

Linds - I'm awaiting 2 litters of Hog Isle's, 1 litter of Colombians, 1 litter of Centrals and a gravid Amazon.. I'm pretty happy with how things have been going so far this year... A few females didn't take but there's always this upcoming season.

Katt - You have to keep positive and on the right track when breeding herps. Some things don't always go you're way...

Thanks guys and gals

Hi,
Ive read at a couple post that temps play a major role in gestation and amounts of slugs, Also I was wondering if had she been fed the past couple weeks??
I may breed boa's in the future and trying to understand how this could occur.
The three stil born appear normal ??

Temps have nothing to do with slugs. Once the female ovulates, that's it, the ovum are fertilized and moved to the oviduct for gestation. Temperatures CAN affect whether or not you get stills, full-term, premies, healthies, etc etc, but it has zilch to do with slugs (infertile/unfertilized ova).

Now, after so many slugs, one has to look at 2 things and 2 things alone:

1) Compatibility.
2) The male's fertility.

Its gotta be one of the two (or both).

Sorry Darren, that sucks to come home to. But you have a TON of clutches on the way if I'm not mistaken, and you can put me down for at least a few Hoggies when they are born!! Good vibes are being sent to you my man.
