Not wanting a birdeater (LOL) I looked up 'grammostola rosea' and as a result got a little confused. One care sheet says they need 70-80% humidity, the other that they're from dry scrubland and really only need misting just before a molt. Which one's right?? Also, most of the sheets I've read recommend a peat moss/perlite substrate... isn't perlite bad as a substrate or is it just bad for lizards? I've got a lot of questions, but as the saying goes, if something's worth doing it's worth doing right :)

One of my T's is listed at 70-80%. All I do is spray the cage every two days. This seems to be working well. Eco earth (Zoo med) and spagnum work well as a substrate for tropical species. I can not honestly say I know for sure but I think it is a tropical species.

You cant really go wrong on a Rosea... 80% is pretty high though... its a desert species so they really only need a water dish. Misting just stresses them out.

When you notice molting problems is about the only time I would recommend higher humidity levels.

 Yup Rose hairs like it dryer and mist only when molting... But please do keep a water dish in there for it at all times, peatmoss mix works well with them, provide a hide house also and maybe a fake plant..

Thanks for all the help everyone! I think I know enough to start now ;). Hopefully she'll be home next week, and oddly enough I can't wait! :p
