eggs?

Many of my eggs are caving, and others are developping brownish spots... Is this good or bad? Neutral? They are 57 days into incubation today, and all are still red inside... how long after the death of the embry would the egg obviously rot? When should I cut open an eggs, should I ever?

All I can say is all my eggs caved in a day before hatching and one of them had the brown spot before as well .. I have heard of many ppls eggs having som brown spots before..

I have had one of my snakes die around day 45.. the egg went fully light brown over night almost.. I openned him up about 10 days later and found a fully develop embryo.. still intact and the egg never roted. Althoguh I knew it was dead by the color change. I would not cut out any eggs... be patient.. theres nothing u can do but wait

Thell hatch anytime.. TURST me its worth the wait.. It will be one of the best things ever!

Zoe, don't stress. And don't cut the eggs open. Wait until the first one pips. Then, if one doesn't pip for 36 hours, then you can start cutting.

Remember, variegata can go 68 days.

Okay, but I can't help but stressing :]. I've never seen a baby carpet python before, what do you expect? ;)

How about the caved in eggs? Should I boost humidity?

no odnt boost nothing you could drown your eggs as stupid as that must sound for you sit back and relax and plz keep the camaras close buy.

oh ya a Baby carpet is a verry smale fersion of the parents....hehehe you will see it is asome and they love to snap but it don't hurt at all the thing is the yellow is like on the greyish side man you are gona flip when they hatch

I would not recomend boosting humidity. Eggs have a tendency to get that caved in dry look in the last couple of weeks. I have made the moisture mistake before with colubrids & ended up killing babies. If the humidity is proper everything is fine despite how they look. I have also seen babies come out of eggs that have turned "nasty looking" so unless you are 100% positive do not discard or cut open any (unless following piping advice above). I have made the mistake in the past & probably killed babies (?) that might of hatched otherwise by getting overly "Motherly". I had fruit flys help me out once. Even though some eggs of the clutch were still good they all looked like they were dead to me (I was using moss as a medium, which I don't reccomend use vermiculite or something else of course). The maggots from the fruit flys will only eat the dead eggs, so I picked out all the ones that the maggots seemed interested in & left the rest despite their appearence & the presence of the fruit fly larve. Low & behold they almost all hatched. I was going to throw them all away. Thank God for maggots LOL. The ones that did die though was because of too high of moisture content & not enough ventilation. Just goes to show that just because they get looking nasty, doesn't mean that they are all turning bad (if any). If you provide the proper enviroment & let nature run it's course that's the best advice that I've been given & can pass on. Oh yeah & every creature despite how useless we may think it is, has a purpose & may help us out sometime. Mark I.

id keep them in the incubator and hope 4 the best. if there all slugs try again next time
