I picked up a battery operrated scale in the kitchen supply part of Walmart for $30. Does metric and USA weights (2 gram increments), and will zero out with a container for easier animal containment. BUT it maxes out at under 5 lbs.

meh, I only have leo so i'm not worried about the 5lbs limit :P
Thats 30$ US though, right?
You'll probably have to go for an analogue scale - they sell them for 15$ at canadian tire.

Analogs are the ones that you have to self adjust like in science class-you push the weights across the bar with whatever you're weighing placed inside the scale tray. They're fairly accurate, easy to keep clean and pretty easy to use.

Personally, I got my scale at Staples... but it wasn't $30 ;) I paid about $65 for it... digital postal scale, put out by Sunbeam. Got it over a year ago, and I've been very happy with it... does grams or ounces, and of course you can tare it to take out a container...

I got mine on ebay for $35 US. It's called an Escali (search that name). It's a digital scale for use in a kitchen. It measures grams and ounces. Measures in 1 gram increments. It's extremely accurate as my herps weigh out the same on the super expensive vet scales.
