(why so many heat lamps?)

If he is doing it like I am witch means no under heting pad you need the extra lamps to keep the temps at the proper heat and it is hard to heat a cage that is tall. I love the cage I could not have done better if i tried a bit big for a baby but it will grow I just hope that the tail is red'r in real life cause in the pic's it looks on the orange side but that just might be me (I just woke up).

Killer setup man. what are the dimentions of the cage? she is a very lucky red tail!

Nope i don't use a heating pad...was going to use it though but its not neccesary. The red lamps are connected with a thermostats which keeps the cage at at least 21 degrees celcius during the night. THose lamps are only 60 and 40 watt so i need a few..if I use more watt then the spot right below the lamp becomes too hot (50 degrees) so i prefer to use 2 smaller ones.
The dimensions of the cage are 150x70x70 in centimeters. Thanks for the compliments:)

Ooh btw the floor of the cage has a hole in it which leads to those plastic cages below the cage..as a hiding place. You can't see the holes now because the bark is over it.. :)

Very nice, but it seems to be bci, not bcc. Coloration is all wrong to be bcc. How much did you pay for it and what locale is it 'supposed' to be?

Very nice looking BCI you have there. I like the tail color and it looks like a circle back too.
Are you sure this is suppose to be a BCC because it looks like a BCI to me.
Take care,
Tom

Im really not sure where it comes from..the guy i got it from doesnt know where the parents come from so thats quite a shame...
but the snake looks nice and thats the most imporant righ :)
I paid € 70 (about $80 USD) for the boa and A LOT MORE for the cage

well as long as you like your snake that IS all that maters I don't think you were riped off to badly but I also dot know how much a BCI is in the US I paid 100$ each CND but I had a good deal. Any way i am glad you got your snake now you can enjoy the whole kit of snake keeping and not just read our stuff and feal so lonly....hehe. I know that is how I feel when i am away from my snakes too long. I could have a striper on my lap and I tell the boys i wana go home i have a cage to clean after I just cleand it that morning I just wana watch them roam around in there cage at night and throw the ocasional extra criket in my gecko cage just to watch it hunt under the red light.

FireFoz... $80 USD is a GREAT price. You actually got a good deal. Nice looking bci down here with that rust red tail like yours would easily fetch $150-$200. And it isn't just that the snake looks nice, but the fact you are happy with him/her. I think that is the most important thing. :)

Thats true for sure! By the way, why do you think its a BCI? What are the marks for it?And, which BCI in specific (if possible).

Funny, he looks *exactly* like my BCI. I'm beginning to think they actually sent me a BCC. Guess I'll find out when he grows 4ft longer than expected, huh? ;)

very nice,
what did you use as a background on the inside of the enclosure, it looks good!

Thanks :)
The cage is made out of wood.
On the inside, I placed tempex (that white hard foam that is being used to isolate things like houses and stuff, its very light) with larger pieces on top of it. After that I burned it down a bit so it looked nice and more natural.
Then I put 3 layers of some kind of concrete that is being used to glue tiles on a wall (i.e. in the bathroom) on top of that.
Then i painted it with spray, hung up some (fake) plants and this is the result :)
I will add some more green plants thursday, Im going to a pet store then which has a lot of them. I will post the result after that ok, i will probably also put my boa in the cage by then (its in a quarantainne for now untill i've seen her poo (i think its a she) to see if it looks ok).

Wouldn't be able to tell you specific locale. Head shape and coloration are all wrong for it to be a bcc. It's hard for me to really explain, LOL Someone else could do better, I'm sure

That is a great looking little BCI and an awesome cage!
You might want to toss in some extra stuff for hides. Cork bark works great and it is pretty cheap!

wow, its so cute i love boa's what a bright tail!!!! im sure he'll be VERy happy in his new home. Good luck :)
I agree with everyone else in that you have a beautiful little BCI on your hands. As LdyDrgn mentioned, the apeparance is very typical of a BCI... the extra-high saddle count is the first giveaway (BCC have between 14-22, BCI have 22+), the saddle shape, colour, tail pattern, and head shape are also very typical of a BCI. Although the best ways of distinguishing are scale counts and saddle counts, there are always exceptions to the rule... but I would be willing to bet the farm that you have a BCI (most likely Colombian) on your hands. An outstanding specimen at that though. You don't see too many with such vibrant tail colours and clean body! Congrats!! :D

The breeder has a book 'The Living Boas' written by Jerry G. Walls which says The best way to notice the difference between bcc and bci are to count saddles. back-scales and belly-scales on the shed.
These are the standards:
B.c.imperator: 22 -30 saddles (till the cloaca), 55-79 back-scales(around), 225-259 belly-scales (till the cloaca)
B.c.constrictor: 15-21 saddles , 81-95 back-scales, 234-243 belly-scales.
I think you also have to count till the cloaca with the bcc.
Acording to this 'math', the parents are bcc.
My boa hasnt shed yet so I'll have to wait and count...

btw this is also an imperator but i would say she is a bcc...very hard to tell!!

On this picture you can count the saddles well. I count 21 till the cloaca, but i have to take her out to check that out 100%, but she has just eaten so i'll have to wait for that.

Sorry, but I agree on the B.c.i. prognosis.
Blunt snout, reddish saddles w\o peaks, count 21, very little speckling on the under belly. Definately a common boa.

HI,
Nice looking boa he has that bright eye look of a healthy boa,
One brief word of advice get some type of humidity measuring device for the cage lights can creata an updraft that can really dry the air, I finally went to wire enclosed CHE's in the cage and reduced the air flow to increase the humidty, if it drops much below 60 % you will have shed problems and lights 24 hours can stress a snake they like that dark period at nite,, beautiful animal good luck
