Needing another pet, any help?

Hey i have a spare 20 gallon tank and i was want to get something, any reptile, amphibian speicies, small enough for it.

any suggestions?

For something active and interesting to watch get a few anoles. I know no one likes them because they are cheap but they are really interesting and highly active! How about a scorpion.....that's what I would do. Leopard gecko, Fat tailed gecko, Green tree frog, Fire bellied toad, Chubby frog, any species of small skink or swift. There are a lot of interesting little herps!

Personally I would go with a collection of poison dart frogs / mantellas!

I would get a pacman frog or one or two ground dwelling small frogs. They are cool. Dont start off on poison darts...you will never want to own a frog again if you start off on posion darts.

I woudl say a leopard gecko or a fat-tailed or you could try a pac-man frog or a couple poison dart frogs. I really liek poison dart frogs.

Get a white's tree frog.

Well first of all, pds deficate almost as much as mice and unless they have at least 15 gallons of space per frog, then you will have to replace the substrate and do a complete cleaning every week for it to be semi-clean.

Well, Whites TF has had great reviews, and long tailed grass lizardds or/and anolis is always nice to look at. A leopard gecko would work well in there, but pictus' would be great, too. I agree with Tim+Julie B, a scorpion(s) would be nice. Maybe a 1.2 pair of emperors...

how much are scorpians? i dont like the black coloured ones, i like those yellow ones, i think they look cool since yellow is my favourite colour :)

The Blk ones are usually Emperor Scorps. Some times if your lucky they are Forest Scorps. The live in humid environments so they are harder to keep for a first timer( just my opinion). The one I suggest for beginners is flat rocks. Those are the two best because they aren't very venomous. The ones you are refering to are probably desert hairy (Hadrurus Arizonensis). They are easy to keep but are more venomous so don't get tagged. Unfortunely Flatrocks are useually harder to find. At least in Canada I have no idea where you are from. But I think they are the best beginner scorpion. Emperors can be kept together though so you can keep three in a twenty gal. Desert Hairy can only be housed on their own. Emperors can be handled and Desert Hairy can not. If you maintain the proper humidity Emperors are fine. Do your reseach and learn a few things before you decide if you want one. Hopefully we will have someone else on the invert forum soon.-Tim.

I really like my dendrobates. A 20 gallon tank is large enough for a few frogs. I don't find them hard to look after or especially messy. They were my first frogs and I have not regretted getting them for a minute. As a matter a fact I have my second group of them coming from Mark Pepper next week, and I can hardly wait.
