Hello all, I'm new, and my main purpose for joining is that I was lookin around the net for stuff on Haitian curly tails because I practically fell in love with them in the pet store, but I don't want to jump into something I'm not ready for, BUT, although there is a bit of info around on what they need, I'm more interested in how they act/are they friendly? I'm probably not able to keep one anyway due to an obnoxious land lord, but for future reference, I'm curious if these lizards are "pet" lizards, will they tolerate some handling, or are they more of an "ornamental" animal? Any info or personal testimonials would be much appreciated.

well. in answer to your, "how do they act" question. i work at Petsmart and we have a couple in the store. 1) they are NOT for handling...they are fast and will bolt asap when you open the door. they will watch for your actions and estimate when you are gonna open the cage...then they will figure out how to escape...and when you open the door...BOOM! they are oughta there! as for handling...not unless you want to put in a lot of time getting bitten before they calm down. especially with the males. we find that in order to clean their tank or even get them out for a customer...we have to pin them in the bedding with a fish net...they burrow, so that makes it even harder to catch them. if you are just looking for an ornamental lizard they are a good choice...easy to care for and not much work at all....hope that helps!
