Some blurry, some okay shots, courtesy of my crappy digicam!

First off, I have a hard time getting decent close up shots with this camera (HP Photosmart 215) and the macro is a nightmare, all it wants to do is focus on the background...I blame the camera, but maybe it's me, LoL...anyone have any photography tips for taking macros (or at least in-focus shots at less than 5 feet away)?
