I've just completed a garden pond. It is 90 gallons and is buried half way into the ground. I want to put in it a baby painted or musk turtle, but I'm worried about whether it will survive the winters here in Kentucky. Let me know what u think.

I have no idea about the winters in Kentucky but you should find a sub-adult or bigger for a pond. Hatchling turtles should be kept in shallow water and any native species of bird, snake, bullfrog etc. will make it a quick snack. Just get something a little bigger. There are always large turtles to adopt.

I would not leave a young turtle to over winter in KY, adults yes, but young ones, I would bring inside. 90 gallons is pretty small also and how deep is the pond? What is the coldest temp in KY? I think you know your answer already... :)
Cheers,
JJ;)
