You can give them one as a treat once in a while, but it shouldn't be part of the regular diet.

There are several things you can give a leo, but crickets should be the staple diet. As babies a variety of small crickets, newly molted meal worms, very few wax worms and silk worms. They also really love wingless fruit flies, but they are difficult to use as they pretty well end up everywhere. As sub-adults you can add newly molted king worms, mealworms larger silk worms and baby hissers. Adults may get that same diet but you can include a small pinkie once a month.

Crickets, zoophobas/superworms, and lobster roaches make excellent staple food sources for adult leos. Silkworms and mealies can also be a big part (50% or more). Its good to offer a variety, however this is not to say your leos will eat any type of feeder bug you offer. Pinkies can be offered as a treat, or more often for breeding females to assist in their weight. Wax worms are fatty and addicitive, so they should only be offered sparingly. Butterworms can also be added in for variety.

True wax worms should be fed sparingly, however silk worms are an excellent, non-addictive food source. They are highly nutritious and can be fed as one of the main food sources for many animals. Main reason they are not is that they are difficult and costly to purchase, breed, or maintain
