i need to no how much a tank, a leopard gecko, and all the stuff u need will cast? OR how much it would cast for a 30 galon tank, a snake , and all the other stuff needed?

Come on here, be a little more speciffic.... there's thousands of different snakes you could choose from, and oodles of morphes of leos.


Thats like asking "how much is a car, insurance and a tank of gas?".

Decide what you want. then figure out the price. if price is the deciding factor don't buy a herp.

- 15 gal tank with lid (25$)
- Heat lamp / fixture (20$)
- Heat pad *optional (15$)
- Timer *optional (10$)
- Substrate (10$)
- Hide box (5$)
- Food dish (5$)
- Water Dish (5$)
- Branches, rocks, another hide, etc (15$)
- Vitamin/calcium supplement (15$)
- Spray bottle (5$)
= 115$ + Leopard gecko (50$ - 200$, depending on age, colour)
+ Vet check / fecal (50$)
+ crickets, mealworms (5-10$/week)

Now let's say you want a snake, a starter snake probably, such as a ball python or a corn snake:
Well, lets see, for the leo:
- 30 gal tank with locking lid (50$)
- Light (regular 40W bulb) and fixture (15$)
- Timer (10$)
- Heat pad (20$)
- Substrate (mulch: 6$, papertowel/newspaper: 1$)
- Hide box (8$)
- Water Dish (big enough for soaking) (8$)
- Branches, rocks, another hide, fake plant, etc (20$)
- Pump spray bottle (9$)
= 285$ + Snake (50$ - 200$ depending on species, age, colour)
+ Vet check / fecal (50$)
+ 1 food item per week (1-3$)

Add an extra 200$ for emergencies, taxes, other stuff you might want.

Now these are only estimates, but they'll give you an idea of what the costs might be. Keep in mind you need to RESEARCH your butt off before buying anything!

I don't know if you have any herps now; I hope you don't.

Research, research, RESEARCH!! That is the VERY FIRST step in acquiring a new animal. You have to read all that you can, and be very knowledgable to all aspects of keeping them. You must be sure of what you are getting into, the feeding costs, the medical costs, the longevity, the husbandry costs, etc. Most of the reasons why people have such a negative reaction to reptiles as pets is in part due to those that get these animals, then have no idea on how to care for them. So many of us know this for a fact for all the rescue work we do.

I am not trying to sound harsh, but if you are asking us how much it will cost you to get the animal and all the husbandry items, it is obvious that you have not given this much thought. If you are asking us to answer these simple questions, then should we expect future questions on care, shedding, feeding, housing, medical problems, and so on? I have seen enough rescues and animals in deplorable conditions to last a lifetime--and most are caused by those that do not take the time and the responsibility to educate themselves on thier new pet.

You need to first think of what it is you want, then do a search on the internet, or read similar posts here on this site. Make sure it is what you want, and make sure you know ALL aspects of care for it. When you have this accomplished, THEN go to a pet store and see if they have what you want.

Buying a pet on a "spur of the moment" thing may make you feel better, but it could ultimately cause death to your pet.

Any help you may need in this decision, just ask. But, before you do, educate yourself a little. Asking such a question as you did will not get anyone to take you seriously.

no he was saying that the gecko would only cos him 20$-40$ in the states. I have a leo and his retail price was 80$ but I got a discount it cost me 250$ to set him up and I all ready had the cage.

this hoby will cost you a pretty penny it is cheaper to go on drugs....heheh

But seriously the set up alone will cost you more then the animal it self if it dosent you are missing some vitel equipment.

Just promise us you will not go out and get a large constrictore as your first snake nothing biger the a boa BCI cause you dont know the meanig of spending on herpes until you start to suport a burm or retic some ppl here will agre with me I am shour.

Just like this this Mite problem I just had....I spent close to 100$ US, I takes alot of money to be in this hoby but the payoff is well worth it!

Just make sure you do your research before jumping into anything!
