keeping fat tailed and leopard together

What would happen if i were to keep a fat tailed gecko and a normal leopard gecko?

Some people do have them living in the same cage but it's not recommended since the fat-tail needs a slightly higher humidity.

oops, and I forgot:

Since they don't come from the same region the leopard gecko could transmet a disease to the fat-tail which he isn't immune to and vice-versa.

So keep leos with leos and fat-tails with fat-tails to prevent having problems! :D

Yep, though they look similar and *can* be kept together, it's definitely best not to, for a number of reasons.

1- Humidity requirements. Leos are from a dry and arid of the world, and tend to live on sand or dry dirt, whereas fat-tails come from more humid areas, and spend a lot of time in dark, humid burrows.

2- Size and aggression. Leopards get bigger than fat-tails, by a few inches. Leopards are also more aggressive (not by much, but I've never seen a baby fat-tail bite, but I've seen plenty of baby leos bite) and tend to eat as much as they want, perhaps not leaving enough food for the fat-tail.

3- Stress. Keeping two different species from different regions together isn't natural, and the geckos will know it, and it will cause them stress.

4- Egg laying. It is possible (though unlikely) that they will mate and the female may produce (infertile) eggs. If the husbandry is decent she won't get egg bound, but laying is always stressful and is hard on her body.

So either stick with only one species (*cough* fat-tail *cough*), or get two tanks :] :D

Hey, thats cool, i was thinking about this same thing today. I was going to get a leo and a fat-tail but now im jsut going to get 2 fat-tails, i find them much mroe attractive : D
