my albino leo pair of girls have a blue blotch running under the skin of the lower abdomen, any ideas? my normals don't have this :S The have peatmoss and vermiculite humid hide, mealworms for food, dusted once or twice a week, water dish, and clay hide. I just noticed it today as I was moving them into their new cage. The heat is propably not as hot as it could be, I will check tonight before comming on tomorrow.

Any help is so appriciated!! I don't want to loose them!! Egg bound perhaps? they were with a male 3 months ago, but never laid eggs... and anything resembling forming eggs (if possible? are off to the side one on top of the other, most likley organs not eggs. *sob* Any ideas??

Does it look anything like this?

If so, it's just a vein. That is a pic of my female leo when she was gravid, but non-gravid leos have it as well.

Can you post a pic of it? I don't know much about Albinos but it could just be an organ or something.

I don't have a way to get a picture of it, but ya, its blotchy... what is cryptos? What causes it? Is there treatment?

Maybe it's her stomach? Or insides or maybe she has an impaction? I'm just brainstorming...but i hope i am helping!

Crypto is a very nasty parasite that is in most cases fatal. There is no sure-fire treatment except one that is still in experimental stages and will cost you a bundle to swing. Right now it looks like the side effect of the treatment is that the Leos stop feeding and may live normal lives with the exception that they need to be force fed. At least that's happening with the person who has posted here a few times on the subject.

I'm hoping and praying that you are just seeing the liver and gallbladder and some very full intestines after a good meal but if it's blotchy I'd say don't muck around here, get to a reptile vet as soon as possible.

hey, thanks for the replies! One girl appears fine, eating and drinking and basking and it looks more like a vein. The other is in a shed so its hard to tell about eating and such, but I will be taking a better look tonight.

Cross your fingers for us!
