New Logo

Ok.. Well we needed something more catchy, better looking on shirts and something unique to our site.... So me and shane put our very poor drawing skills to work and came up with a new logo... I hope you guys like it :) Let me know, yes, no, i need to get used to, i hate its!! :P

nice jeff but you should tweak it a bit, it looks commercially infomercial.... just lighten up the gradiation from the black to the front a bit.. because the lighting blocks out the head..

I noticed it right away! lol It's pretty bizzare. I like it though. Would like it better if like Canadaherp said there was some gradient to the background colour...or maybe more blue to the background at the top and bottom.

sweet :) Critisism is GOOD :) I agree we need some gradient to the background... I will work on it.. the whole idea with the little snakie is so that we have a actual logo, not just real snake pictures... Ill get trying some new gradients...

I miss the old one. I think it looked more professional, and eye-catching...Although, I can see how it would be beneficial to have an actual logo....maybe some kind of compromise? In any case, good job as always!

Baha! I love the snakes, they made me laugh, but I too think it is missing something. What, I'm not sure, but that sertain "umph" if you will. :) But the snakes were too funny. Their eyes remind me of those eyebrow glasses. lol, you know the ones with hte nose attached. lol, too funny!!
So, if I may ask, wheren't you having some kind of banner contest or something? What ever happened with that? Good luck finding a new banner!! I'm sure whatever you come up with it will be superb!!

The hope is to have a mascot of sorts to be able to identify with not only the site..but with things such as tee shirts etc, and give aways in the future

I believe i had one 3 weeks ago and i got 3 banners..... Basically the old one isnt going back up.... I will accept new ones and a t-shirt will be given to the whose ever we use. The old one is not t-shirt or sticker friendly and we need a t-shirt / sticker friendly logo and mascot type deal. ;)

Greg... You have to revert your style to the origional style then refresh a few times... The current one up is with a blue background ;)

It looks better with the blue and old font....maybe tweak the colour combos and size of font/snakes?? I dunno, it seems a bit bare to me. I know over crowding isn't t-shirt friendly, but it could use a bit of SNAP, y'know? Don't get me wrong, I couldn't do better, but maybe some combined efforts from the community?

I dontk now, I just really dont think the logo will work as a logo, speaking in mind that it will be on t shirts, it just wouldnt look right i dont think...I will whip something up anyhow and see what you think. I do think it looks better with the blue and that font however.

I think it looks pretty good, but maybe you could try a "collage" of different herps in the background at least for the site banner. Just my 2 cents

I would say make the snake's outline more smooth. If that was so be pefectly smooth and it was colored a bit better, it would look awesome!

Ouch! Who would want a crack head snake on there shirt any way.

The old one had a much more professional, international flair.
I like real snakes and simple type, if however you must do an illustration i suggest one more realistic like PCPC on the home page.

The new banner looks more like a site on toy rubber snakes

Hello Jeff my doter love your new logo, in fact both of us played and had fun working it a little, she chose all the colors and asked if she can submit this to you T-shirt contest, the only thing she complained about was the fangs, she finds them scary and says our snake don’t have such fangs otherwise she who’d not handle them, also she wants to know what is the name of your mascot? Kind regards

In my oppinion the logo must appears fresh and young reffering to the abbilities of this forum. The fact that is a Canadian forum must be stressed for the Canadian people and to separate it from US herp forums. Also something else telling future members (guests) that this forum is open and friendly to any people all over the world. This is my proposal:

That's great Greg. Love the tongues. lol. Maybe you could outline the font so it stands out more, almost blends in to the canvas. But I think they are looking for something that can be t-shirt friendly too. That is the hard part. Can't wait to see what the "proffesional" will come up with. :)
