My male Bearded dragon has been digging around for the past couple days(I'm 100% posotive its a male) i thought that it was because he was hungry but he is actually acting kinda lazy. Whats going on?
Gotta have a hobby!! ;)
Some rare males enjoy digging nearly as much as females, especially if housed with another beardie who keeps messing up the little wallow he's dug out to sleep in.
Other times it's a territorial thing, and a sign of stress. He's trying to control his turf and the digging is a dominance display. There's an easy way to figure out which is which. Make sure he cannot see another beardie and has a decent hiding spot. If the digging behavior stops in a few days time, this is a boy who really needs to live alone. He is too stressed and will end up not thriving.
Or then again, perhaps there was a sexing error. I bought a "girl" in August who looked to be a sure female. "She" came from a highly experienced and reputable breeder who was also sure Titian was a girl. But when "she" was 4 months old hemipenal bulges were clearly visible. It just took this beardie a while for accurate sexing. Stuff like that happens from time to time. Try lifting the tail again and taking a peek to see if there are 2 hemipenal bulges or one oviduct bulge. Sometimes these guys will surprise you after a few months. ;
