Keeping Humidity

Hey guys. I have my female BP Sabbra in a 20 L aquarium with a screen top. Humidity seems to be a lil of a problem now that its summer in AZ. I cant really get it over 30-40. I have put foil over a majority of the screen. How can I bring the Humidity up? Thanks guys.

What kind of substrate are you using?

i am having the same prob .
so what i do is mist the cage really good once sometimes even twice a day. then my humidity comes up to like 70-80 and then slowly drops throughout the day and stays at about 50 for the night.
you can even try to put somedamp sphagnum(sp) moss in with your substrate and even in 1 of the hide boxes to help with the problem.

I'm very lucky, my snake room is naturally about 50% humidity and with water in the tank they go up to 65.

If you are still using towels, try switching to newspapers, or paper towls.

It also helps alot if you put the water dish above the under tank heater ( if you have one )

I also add another bowl of water directly underneath the incandesant ( again if youve got an incandesant light this helps )

( make sure you keep up with fresh water when having them heated so often, seems that they like cool, fresh water better, makes sense anyways )

If you have a light and are having problems with humidity, take it off, it will be a big contribution to the cage drying out.

I completely agree with Kovu, I had what sounds like your set-up for my bp's a while back, and holding humidity was a problem. I recently (approx. 2 mos. ago) changed all my natural habitats to rubbermaids in a rack, and let me tell you, what you lose in curb appeal, you MORE than make up for in ease of maintaining the environment. I now have unprinted newsprint and a rubbermaid water dish in there, and it is the easiest thing to maintain and alter for shedding, etc. I highly recommend the switch.

Maybe try raising the humididy in a plastic container with an enterance cut in it. Also maybe put moss in it.
Or you could leave a water bowl big enough for the snake to soak in and just leave it alone.

I would recommend misting once a week, and putting some moss into her hide. You might also want to put a water bowl on both sides of the enclosure. Of course, your going to want to change the water on the hot side daily.
