Hey all, Ive had my female Leo for about a year now, and I just now noticed I have NEVER seen her shed nor have I noticed shed skin in the tank. I have seen her really white and pale like shes going to shed but never have found the actual skin. Could it be she eats her shed skin or something? Do the crix eat it? Wierd. Thanks all.

Well, I've had leos for about 4 years now and I have a leo factory going on-18 eggs already in only 2.5 weeks-and If your leo is very healthy and has the right amount of humidity it should take about an hour for him to shed, that's probably why you've never seen it during the process. Also, if it's shedding properly there shouldn't be too many pieces of loose skin laying around the cage. That just means he's managing to tear it off very easily.Leos eat their skin as do many other herps. It's a good way to recover lost vitamins such as calcium. That's a good thing. Keep up the good work.LOL. Julie*~

They all eat their skin, and they will rarely do it that you will get to see it. Also it only takes 20 minutes to an hour to complete the process so you wont likely ever see it happening.

I see mine shedding because I check on them in the middle of the night. Often I can sneak up to their tank after midnight and watch their amazing little interactions.

During Aurora's days of lesser health she would shed in plain sight. This round was particularly amusing. Check it out:

My female woke me up at 6 in the morning saturday, she was rubbing herself on her humid hide box and making so much noise! The shed was perfect! :D
