Just an email that I got today -- apparently all the following statements are actually true... Some of them are quite interesting! Personally I enjoyed the toilet one ;)

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Apples, not caffeine, are more efficient at waking you up in the
morning.

Alfred Hitchcock didn't have a bellybutton.

A pack-a-day smoker will lose approximately 2 teeth every 10 yrs.

People do not get sick from cold weather; it's from being indoors a lot more.

When you sneeze, all bodily functions stop ... even your heart!

Only 7% of the population are lefties.

40 people are sent to the hospital for dog bites every minute.

Babies are born without knee caps. They don't appear until they are 2-6 years old.

The average person over fifty will have spent 5 years waiting in
lines.

The toothbrush was invented in 1498.

The average housefly lives for one month.

40,000 Americans are injured by toilets each year.

A coat hanger is 44 inches long when straightened.

The average computer user blinks 7 times a minute.

Your feet are bigger in the afternoon than the rest of the day.

Most of us have eaten a spider in our sleep.

The REAL reason ostriches stick their head in the sand is to search for water.

The only 2 animals that can see behind itself without turning it's
head are the rabbit and the parrot.

John Travolta turned down the starring roles in "An Officer and a
Gentleman" and "Tootsie".

Michael Jackson owns the rights to the South Carolina State anthem.

In most television commercials advertising milk, a mixture of white
paint and a little thinner is used in place of the milk.

Prince Charles and Prince William NEVER travel on the same airplane just in case there is a crash.

The first Harley Davidson motorcycle built in 1903 used a tomato
can for a carburetor.

Most hospitals make money by selling the umbilical cords cut from women who give birth. They are reused in vein transplant surgery.

Humphrey Bogart was related to Princess Diana. They were seventh
cousins.

If coloring weren't added to Coca-Cola, it would be green.

lol, I know I always do this, but I can't believe that all of those are true.

"Alfred Hitchcock didn't have a bellybutton." How could that be? How did he recieve nourishment in his mother's womb?

"40 people are sent to the hospital for dog bites every minute." That makes 21,024,000 people a year. That's 2/3rds of Canada. Doesn't make sense to me.

"40,000 Americans are injured by toilets each year." How can you get injured BY a toilet? If you fall off a roof, you aren't really getting injured by the house...

"The REAL reason ostriches stick their head in the sand is to search for water." Ostriches DON'T stick their heads in the sand. They 'hide' by placing their head near the ground. How far could an ostrich get its underground? A few inches? I don't know about anyone else, but I've never seen an underground stream of water a few inches underground.

"If coloring weren't added to Coca-Cola, it would be green." What ingredient would make it green??

lol, okay, I'm done :P

Zoe, I see you're just as on -the-ball as I was, and quicker too. I figured a few of those were off, but you beat me to it.
The one I have a problem with is the "people over 50 have spent 5 years waiting in a line"? Hardly, considering we sleep 1/3 of our lives, that's 16.6 years. from say 20-50 yrs. you work at least 8 hours a day, no lines there = 10 years. I read somewhere tht you spend 3 years of your life on the toilet. I'm guessing the first 4 or so years of your life you don't really do much of anything, that only leaves 16.4 years. Of that time, I'm guessing more time is spent waiting at a stop light then in a line of some sort. Though you could probably argue that waiting for a light to change is a line of some sort. I digress.......

Coca Cola's original color WAS green. Caramel coloring is common in sodas. Cocaine was an original ingredient as well, hence the name "COCA Cola"

Baby's have kneecaps, but they are cartiledge, therefore they do not show up on an x-ray (got this fact from someone else on RTB).

The 21mil people sent to the hospital by dogs is more than likely a world wide number, not just Canada wide.

Yep, Coke was messed up way back when. But now I don't believe that without brown colouring, it would be green.

Yeah, same with horses... they have knee caps, but they aren't fully developped = more prone to injury.

I was thinking it was probably america-wide... world-wide could make sense, I suppose.

That's gross: "Most of us have eaten a spider in our sleep."

And how the hell are you injured by a toilet?? falling in?

And I don't believe that the average computer user blinks 7 times a minute. I'm sure I blink way more than that...

Anyway, that stuff is strange!! Thanks for sharing, though... some of that i needed to know :)

Yeah well, people consume an average of 7 pounds of insects and the likes in their lifetime-and do you want to know from what? KETCHUP! That's what we get for letting machines sort our fruit and vegetables!>*<

Chameleons can barely move their heads, and can still see behind themselves without turning their heads.

Dave Barry would say far more people have been injured by toilets, he's always writing about or collecting stories about exploding toilets. And cows. Wonder how many people have been injured by standing too close to an exploding cow?

True story:

I was working at a 24 hour restaurant. My shift was the midnight shift. At about 2 a.m., I went to use the bathroom. As I sat down, I heard a crunch, and realized I was almost on the floor. The bowl part of the toilet had shattered into hundreds of pieces....and I swear to God, I had barely touched the toilet!! I was uninjured, but I am sure that others have been. Look at all the possibilities--dropping the lid on your toe, hand, etc.., the lid dropping on you (guys, you know THIS one), falling off of it, standing on it to reach something and slipping, and so on. So, I can personally beleive that one!!

oo the worst is when you have those fabric cushoned toilet seats and they get old and cracked. When you sit down the little crack pinches you! Thats an injury, although not a very big one, but it still hurts!

It's not possible to have no belly button, but it is possible for it to fade throughout your life so that, by the time you die, you don't have a visible one. I've had a couple of patients with no visible belly button.

You men PLEASE PUT THEM LIDS BACK DOWN!!!!;)
