How do you weigh them? Do I need one of those scientific scales that we used in science last year?:). What do you guys use? Thanks..

I use a digital deli scale that I bought on ebay, called Escali. It measures in whole grams and also in ounces. It's very accurate unless you want the decimal places also. In grams it measured exactly with my vet's scale. $35 american on ebay.

Click here to see what I use. Not only is it very affordable, but it weighs up to 13 lbs in 1 gram increments. Perfect for weighing everything from a hatchling leopard gecko to a 6' boa :)

I've never tried this, but it should work. Get a big graduated container with water in it (ie. with volume markings), take a container for the gecko and float it in the water, measure the volume of the water, then put the gecko in the floating container and measure where the volume goes to. Subtract the initial volume from this, then, if it's in ml, multiply by 1 g/ml to get the weight.

For big stuff I heard a story about Tracy Barker when she first had large snakes she used to bag them sneak them into the grocery store and weigh them on the produce scales! In the bag of course! I know this didn't help but I thought it was a funny story! Wow MartanW someone payed attention in science class! Good idea!

$100 or less ;) A lot of the comparable scales go for $600+
