When an egg turns orangeish and dents in when you touch them(humidy is right), does it mean it is dead?

The egg with all the problems fits the description above. Yet the egg I thought was infertile at first is still very plump and kinda hard. I just don't see anything inside the egg when I candle it! How long should an infertile egg take to rot? It's been over 3 weeks now.

If it's turning orange, it's probably rotting.

An infertile egg should rot in a week... Have you candled the egg? Is it still white? If so, sounds fertile!

The "infertile" egg is still very white. When I gently squeeze it, it seems full of fluids(very tight feeling). Is this typical of a fertile eggs?

P.S. I edited my original post to say that I did candle the eggs.

Well, if it's white and turgid it sounds fertile... How are you candling?

I turn out all the lights and stick a mini-mag gently on the egg. All I see is a glowing white-clear color.

Hm, I dunno then, I guess just keep it and wait! You'll know if it rots!

Heh, I would have thought an infertile egg would rot pretty quickly. I mean, what would be keeping the egg alive? It's been over 3 weeks and no signs of rotting are present. I guess I will just wait about another 4 weeks and see!

Don't ever through an egg away unless it's wrinkled, changing colours and stinking. You never know what might come out!

I'm not planning on throwing any out. Unless they explode or something like that..

Here's a pic of the eggs. The one at the top is the one I think is starting to rot. The bottom is the "infertile" one which I now think is fertile:

The top one looks pretty infertile... does it stink?
The bottom one looks alright... not exactly white, but it's not caved in or anything.

They both smell like the perlite. The top was the one that was fertile until all the problems started with it! I think the eggs don't look totally white because they were laid in Peat moss. So they got all dirty.

Peat moss shouldn't have any bearing on the colour. The eggs actually appear discoloured, not just dirty. Does the "white" have a pink hue or a yellow hue when candled? IMHO they both look bad from the outisde, but as Zoe said, leave em until theres nothing left to leave. Sometimes the little buggers will hatch out of moldy, discoloured eggs that you would be sure were dead :p
