i still do noy have a leopard gecko but when i do, at night time do i turn the heating pad off to keep the temperature cooler or do i turn off the bedroom lights?? It will be greatly apprectiated if you guys can tell me what to do.

You can leave it on or turn it off, it doesnt really matter aslong as the ambiant temp drops, so its cooler then the day temp.

They do prefer to have the light off at night. You need a "photoperiod" - so it really seems to become nighttime in the room they live in.

I leave my UTH on 24/7.

I leave my uth set to 88 day and night. During the day I have a red bulb on and a house bulb to keep the hot side an ambient temp of 88. At night only the red bulb is on which brings the hot side down to about 82 ambient. Seems to work well for me although there are other schools of thought on this.
