View Full Version : How far would you go for your pet?
Got any cool devotional stories? My baby Rainbow, Mambo No. 5, was starving for his weekly mouse. I hadn't yet got him to eat thawed so I pulled him out and tossed a live mouse in a feeding tank with him. Mambo crept up and delivered a deadly blow to the mouse, biting him in the face. The problem was that the mouse had opened his mouth during the strike and was biting Mambo too. I sprang into action. My first instinct (please don't read any further if you are squeemish) was to bite the little SOB until I rippied his friggin' head off. I got the rat about 2" from my mouth and thought "What the hell am I doing"? I proceeded to squish his little noggin into a bloody pulp, pryed Mambo away and made a dive for the peroxide and antibiotic ointment. Mambo and everyone else eat thawed now or they do not eat at all!
My German Shepard (Sasha) was hit by a car and barely survived. During her recovery, I carried her everywhere. I cooked steak, chicken and pork for her EVERY night. Whatever I ate, she ate. I covered the sofa with a sheet and kept her in the house until my dad got home at 11:00 PM. We have been linked ever since. This dog would die for me if she had too, I have no doubt.

Although it is off the subject of the post, how long has it been since you got your rainbow to eat? Obviously, you know to feed frozen instead of live, and I respect that. This is yet another example of why we DO NOT feed live prey. Your poor snake could of suffered serious damage. I don't blame the rat, though. If I was him, I would of done the same thing....fight for my life!!

Damn you were gunna bite the rat? Lol. You must really love that boa! Lol. Well,, I'm glad Mambo is better and on thawed prey. When I used to feed my BP live, she got bit a few times. Twice was enough for me to switch her to thawed weather she liked it or not.

id never risk live feeding! anyway i wouldnt be able to! id have to keep the mouse, with a little wheel, water bowl, maybe a hamster ball, mousey paradise!
i used to carry my german shepherd (tessa) around my house wrapped up in a blanket like a little baby:) but the latest German shepherd, puppy would have any of that!
my pet rat (ratty:) ) was choking on some toast the other night! it was scary, she was foaming at the mouth and coughing for ages, i wrapped her up, and tried the ratty heimlich manouver! i had to stick my fingers in her mouth to clear her throat, and she kept crawling up on me, getting ratty slobber on me:) i sat with her for hours wrapped up like a baby! shes still here thank god, but if it wasnt for my ratty fling and heimlich manouver then shed have probably choked and died!:(
I knew at the time not to feed live, but Mambo wouldn't eat anything else. It took about a month to change him over to thawed, but he eats fine now. In fact, I think he is hitting his first real growth spurt (eating 2 mice per week).

SHES MY BABY!!! i swear shes like a little child to me!:)
Interesting. And I agree with the others. A side note though...you'd be better off giving your dog raw meat, veggies and fruit

I don't hesitate to take a hit for any of my kids. I routinely stick my hands in to Jack Russell fights to pull out my Charlie when him and the other one go at it. They are almost impossible to break up (for those that don't know, JRT's fight to the death), and I won't stand by while my little man is involved. I don't can't say the limit to which I could go, as I have never been met with a challenge that I've had to back down from, but I do go as far as humanly possible for my kids. If there is something I can do, then I do it.
I can't really know fur sure but I do know if someone was bugging my herps at my house and I told them to stop and they didn't I would give them a good smack in the head.
Geez....thats awesome!! I mean...what you did for ur pets an all! :D If my pets were in danger..i would do just about anything for them. Heck, I would probably do ANYTHIN for them! :D
