Ray,

Do you have a head or side shot of the snake? If the eyes are large golden-yellow, it is probably trimeresurus macrops.

If the head scales are smooth and the body scales are keeled, and there is a white stripe running ventrally along the first body scale row, I would guess that it is either trimesurus stejnegeri or trimesurus popeiorum. Both look externally identical but have different hemipenes structures, so only males can be identified with certainty. Also stejnegeri tends to grow slightly larger.

Hope this helps.

Oh, I forgot to ask, what species cobra is that? It looks interesting.

Green one looks like a Temple Viper.

This Better?
LOL! Yup. I saw those came into country. Hollister just picked up 3.

As for the Trim........ Hard to say. I went so far as to go through some books looking. Hard to say fromthat show. I don't think yellow eyes are going to be a good indicator Edwin. Most green Trims have them. Got me on ID though. But a soak in Pedialite would do him wonders ;)

if i may....edwin, the cobra is a monocled (Naja kaouthia)

about the trim, very tough to id, but Im gonna have to disagree with the temple viper suggestion, i dont think its a wagleri

Thank you Edwin, Brian and Matt. Your are correct, the cobra is a Monacled Cobra from Malaysia. The green one came in as a "green Pit Viper" --- big help to me, Scientific just said "Trimerusurus spp." They did send me a 12" baby make waglers viper (first in a long time). Thanks for all your help y'all.
Blessings
Ray

P.S.- Scott, come on by, lots of dirty cages waiting for you :)

Ahh, kauothia.. I was leaning towards that, as I noticed its white throat had a couple of lateral spots, the the coloration just threw me off. Is that coloration normal?

Ray, you seem to have access to a number of species from Malaysia, do you know of anyone who breeds or imports pseudoxenodon macrops? Its non-venomous, and I am not sure of its English common name.

Edwin, we have not been offered that snake yet, but would jump on the chance to get them. They are real cool looking, and I HEAR they are not so hard to keep. The coloration on the Monacle Cobra is unuseral. It so far has only been on females. We have never gotten a male with that color.

Hi Ray,

Yeah, I heard that they do fairly well in captivity, although they will probably only eat frogs. Do keep me in mind if you are offered that snake!

Cheers,
Edwin

As always Ray you have the most amasing hots,I am somewhat jealous till I remember about that specialized saliva they tote around, then I take my hat off to you and all those hot keepers who post here cause we need to know what this is all about even if we do not keep hots. When I get bit I only bleed,I still love the lance heads though (yellow my fave) but I will leave the keeping up to the pros when it comes to the hots.

Peace

Ray....would you consider shipping to canada?

cobraman

Matt, we can ship to Canada, but it is an export that requires a lot of work, so we normally only export large orders ($2000 or more).
