I havent quite bought a leopard gecko yet but im sure to buy one soon. I was wondering if there is any information i should know when looking for one (and its cage)
Matt,
If you scan through the leo forum you're bound to find tons of info that will be usefull. If you have any specific questions, ak them, they're easier to answer!! :)

Read back through old posts and get a copy of "The Leopard Gecko Manual". Once you've done all that then ask us any questions you may still have :). Excellent choice in a reptile. Will this be your first?

Hey Matt_Matt, when selecting a leopard gecko choose one that is alert and active, has bright eyes with no discharge, and hopefully has a somewhat plump tail. The bigger the tail, the better! Check all their toes to make sure there is a tiny little claw on the tip of each one, poor husbandry often leads to missing toe tips. There should be no signs of retained shed or bits of skin hanging around on the lizard.
Buying from a breeder is always recommended over a major pet store, do some google searching around and see if you can find a private breeder! If you have the chance, ask to see the gecko eat. Don't bother with testing out handling - more than likely if it is a juvenile it will not be very comfortable with handling and that will come in due time.
Google search for leopard gecko care sheets, there are LOTS of them on the internet! Take everything with a grain of salt and use common sense... remember that care sheets are written by people from their own experience and some portion of the mass of information online will be bad.
Ask lots of specific questions!
Hope that helps...

Hi Matt,
Definitely buy a copy of the Leopard Gecko Manual :) Great book...
Other than that, I have a care sheet posted on my website http://www.geocities.com/geckohaven -- and if you have any further questions, I'd be happy to answer them :D
Good luck with your future leo -- but beware, they're addictive! :D

Hey Clownfishie, just wanted to say that your leopard gecko care sheet is really well written! You and I see eye to eye on leopard gecko care. :D
Nice website too - did you design it?

Thanks Frog :) Glad to hear that you like it... I tried to get all the important stuff in there! I did indeed do the site myself, with help from my (ex)boyfriend...
