 Just few words on frogs and vitamins.. I can not stress enough that all frog keepers should always try to give there frogs a good vitamin mineral supplament at least once every 2 weeks, if not atleast once a month. In captivity they do not recive the vitamins they need.. if you are feeding live prey such as mice or pinkies just inject a good liquid vitamin thats made for reptiles into the prey befour feeding or if not just dust the prey items with a good powder form of reptile vitamins. Lack of vitamins and minerals in the frogs diet will cause , bone probs, eye probs, intestinal probs, skin infections, stunted growth and many more probs..:)
If you are feeding whole prey items such as mice, vitamin supplementation is uneccessary, since those animals are nutritionally complete. Pinkies however have little bone mass hence calcium will be lower, so using a calcium supplement isn't a bad idea. Vitamin supplementation can be beneficial when using feeder insects, however it can still be avoided if the feeder insects are properly gutloaded. However, a calcium/d3 supplement cannot be skipped out on when using feeder insects, no matter how well-fed the bugs are. Vitamin supplements are an absolute must for vegetarians, and when feeding feeder insects which have not been properly gutloaded.
