Great pics, Mike! Although I must admit, looking at those hots being kept in those plastic containers give me the creeps... all that separates my hands from their fangs are just a thin layer of plastic... brrrr!

I have to say that I really like looking at your pics. I wish a herp show would come here to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

oh andrea, the emperors aren't spray painted, lol. They have black lights over them which turns them that color when under it. I'm not sure why or how but its sweet!

Cool pics!! and yeah most scorps have a strange blue glow when you put black lights over them...i don't know the scientific reason though...maybe its their blood.

Well, from my experience from scorpions, that truly does not look right.
Here's a pic of what an emperor scorpion looks like under a black light. Notice the shades of black and blue, showing an obvious "glow" from fluro light.
Notice also the blackness around the picture. Just like black-light posters, you need to turnout the lights in order for the uv light to work. The scorpions will not glow in broad daylight.
Not to mention, the uv bulbs create a tremendous amount of stress for the creatures living under it. Try living under a black light for a few weeks and you will see for yourself; a significant decrease in your health and well-being.
Scorpions will also lose the ability to flouresce as the uv dammages their exoskeleton. It will only work for a short while until enough dammage has been done.
Anyways, if the uv light is in fact the case here, the herps at shows are under enough stresses without putting them through such an irresponsible practice in order for a sale. (Not to mention letting them all swarm over each other like that...)

WHEW! Ill get off my soap-box now! lol

Adding on:
NO WAY.. You know what? Looking closer at the pic, theres NO WAY that those are under a uv light...

I've seen emperor scorps like the ones on the first page in the pet stores. I think they might be some sort of differant kind or something. I'm sure they wouldn't spray paint scorps! That would just kill them.

Wow, amazing that they sell hots there. PA must have much looser laws than NY cuz you wont see them at the NY metro show.

Emperors glow under blacklight (UV). That's probably what it was.

That python looked like an Olive to me.

ya they do glow, I didn't know people didn't know that. A few people at the shows here have said that before. And the venoms in the cups out here are all babies. Its not like they're gonna stick a full grown rattler in a plastic. All large venoms at the lancaster, and other venom shows i go to are in glass cages. Plus, anyone with a brain isn't gonna see if the snake will bite it through the container, lol.
