View Full Version : any info on breeding corns cuz its my first time and i don't know what to do...

Um i was wondering i'm getting a male corn soon to mate with my female nicky who is 1 and a half years. and well i have no idea what to do. My cousin is a breeder and he says you have to change the heating and lighting:confused: like i said i have no idea what to do i don't even now how old the male should be older or younger? and um lets see oh yeah how do i avoid egg biding because i don't want my nicky to die:( so um can someone shed some light for me it would be really helpful cuz i wanna be a breeder but noone in my family knows how because my cousin only does crested geckos so can someone help me plz plz plz...
like i said i have no idea:confused:

Any caresheet worth it's salt will have the info you need. all though you don't need to brumate the corn snakes (brumating is similar to hibernation) to get them to breed you will have better success that way.

I do not recommend breeding a female that young. There can be too many difficulties that may arise. Why not wait another year and allow her to get to grow to a bigger size so she can handle the strain of the eggs. And there is the possibility that she can die after laying her eggs because of her small size. Females will refuse to eat while with eggs and they take most of her nutrients for the development of the eggs, leaving her very thin and weak after laying.

So, if you want to your female, why not wait another year allowing her to get bigger and while you're waiting read upn on breeding as much as you can.

okay i picked it up today and read it over acouple of tiems and i'm gonna wait till she gets longer and bigger so maybe in about 1 and a half years maybe 2 depends how big she gets by then
