Hi! I'm fr0glet. I'm 27, a homeowner, and soon to be married. I live in Washington state and I'm a member of the Pacific Northwest Herpetological Society (www.pnhs.net). I do halfway-housing and rescue for them, and work on the adoption committee and newsletter committee. I also do community outreach with them at schools and animals shows in the Northwest.

I'm recently unemployed and have way too much time on my hands. Hopefully I'll be finding a new job ASAP.

Let's see what else... my interests are care and keeping of herps and mammals, body modification (piercing and tattoos), hiking, camping, kayaking, painting, building computers, playing video games, posting on Usenet, and web design.

I was suggested to check out #ssnakess on IRC, and Shane Tesser was way cool to me and suggested I come check this place out. :) Thanks Shane!

My current collection:

Leopard Geckos 1.5
Bearded Dragon 0.0.1
White's Tree Frogs 1.1

Emporer Scorpion 0.0.1

OK I'm going to go post some questions I need advice with! :)

what are the most common problems you find when taking these animals in? i'd guess probably RI and bad shed for snakes. and low weight in lizards?

I've had quite a few low-weight young lizards and snakes. So far I've only had two respiratory infections and one case of MBD (the beardie I adopted). Current sickies include a leo with a bad eye infection (vet tomorrow), a baby BP with suspected skin blister disease, and a very skinny corn snake who has been regurgitating semi-frequently for a year. I also suspect the sulcata has a RI. Almost 100% of the herps I've taken in have parasites. Before they go up for adoption they get their parasites treated, health restored and weight up to a suitable level. Potential keepers also have to fill out an application that shows they know how to care for the animal in question.

I *love* halfway housing, it's so worth it!! :)
