Hi,

I presently only have 2 tarantulas, a mexican red knee and a cobalt blue, both lovely ladies :D You can see pictures of them and their set-ups either in some of the recent threads in this forum or by checking out my gallery (just click on the little camera next to my name).

I am definitely planning on getting some more in the future! Just waiting on some 10 gal tanks to free up and I'll be sure to get myself a b. boehmi and a few more! Just hard on choosing which one I want next sometimes!!!

Would love to see some pics of your T's and other animals :)

I also have an emporer scorpion and 2 hisser cockroaches and 2 lobster cockroaches. I also HAD an Australian Giant Walking Stick, she just died of old age but I have hundreds of eggs to remember her by!! Hopefully I will have babies soon. :D

I only have 2 Ts, a pink toe and suntiger.
But, you see, I'm afraid of spiders. This is my way to get over the fear.
I've owned the pink toe for a while and just rescued the baby suntiger.
They are such beautiful creatures.

I only have 1 right now. My wife is terrified of them. It started off as no spiders and now it's up 2 max. The only one I have now is a Salem Orna-mental! He or she is not to friendly.

Wow... you started out with a skeleton eh? Thats a big bite to take as a first spider... I always refer to those as a NW spider with an OW attitude problem.

As for my collection... I have scaled back slightyly

5 G. Rosea (my first and still my fav)
2 A. Avicularia (docile little cuties)
1 A. Versicolor (gorgeous spiders)
9 B. Albopilosum (one of the most under-rated species in the hobby IMO)
9 C. Fasciata (real lookers! Still fairly new to Canada)
2 T. Blondi (the big bad *** of the spider world)
1 H. gigas (an adventure every time the lid is open... mean little biatch)
1 P. terror (aka Usambara baboon... needs anger management therapy)
1 M. Velvetosoma (very rare now)
1 A. Moderatum (my favorite blonde)
1 B. Anitha (spunky for a spiderling)
1 H. Minax (the only spiderling to ever challenge me to a fight)
1 H. Lividium (permanent case of PMS)
1 C. Paganus (lightning fast and always pissed off)
2 A. Seemani (my other happy couple)
1 G. Aureostriata (my biggest sweetheart... I can hand feed her)
5 B. Smithi (cost me a damn fortune but well worth every penny)
1 C. Thorelli (can already tell this baby will be a bad kid)

Hmm... I think thats all for now... always buying new goodies though!

Hey BW69,
The brazil black is about 3" and a very nervous little guy. I bought it for my girlfriend. She just doesn't know yet. I'm trying to pull her into the invert world. I'm going to raise it up, then it's hers. My favorite spider of my collection is really the P.cancerides.

 Hey Mike what is your P. cancerides classified as ive seen them here under some of the dealers as either Haitian Brown, or Red Island Birdeater?? But a very good choice ya have there none the less.. brazilian blacks should not be skittish at all..:)

MoreliaMike
04-06-03, 08:44 PM
BW69,
The brazil black is still a little guy. No biting, just nervous. The P.cancerides is usually sold as haitian birdeater. It's a misnomer because they occur on both sides of Hispanola (Haiti and Dominican Republic). This is why I don't like common names. Dealers tend to change names just to move animals.

The G.Pulchra seem to always be nervous until they hit the 3-4 inch mark. Your will probably settle down soon and become the relaxed buddy spider that we all know them as :)

Individual results vary though hehe

Right now i have 30 herps. Among them just one invert, a semi adult mexican red rump (Brachypelma vagans), but i want to get more T's. I like them a lot! Generaly i like colorful T's such: Haplopelma lividum, Avicularia versicolor, Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens, Theraphosa blondi etc.

Depends which size you want... back in tha fall when I was selling 1 inchers used to sell around 48 bucks... 2 inchers were 72 and large females were selling at 180 (these are all Canadian prices)

These will probably be a little cheaper now that the dollar is stronger and it is springtime.

You would probably love an A. Geniculata? I think they are a lot more spider for the buck.

AstroZombie
04-13-03, 12:34 PM
I was quoted $150 CDN for an adult female, just wondering if it was a fair price.
A. geniculata is definately on my "want list", but they are more readily available ( at least from my observations) than the Brazilian B&W and was just considering jumping on the chance to aquire one while it was locally (yay, no shipping) available.

Thanks Chris
:D

They have actually now been moved into the genus nhandu instead of brazillopelma... keep that in mind too if you are shopping around.
