I've heard that cresties like to lay eggs next to plant roots....so I put 3cm flat aquarium rocks all around the base of the plant pot to prevent the girls from laying there. I also put an easy to access nesting box in the tank. Go figure, Ruby moved the rocks (just slightly) and layed her eggs near the roots. One egg looks a little smoshed and the other is fine.
Has anyone else had problems with cresties laying in plant pots? Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Scott

Hey Scotty.......good to hear those kids are breeding well for you. I have had several clutches laid in the plants, and voila, without my knowing I find iddy biddy babies bee bopping around the parents enclosure. Be careful though that you do remove the babies as soon as you find them, as the parents can and will eat them without hesitation. They are fair game when that little. I would leave the one egg if you cannot get it out without damaging it. Usually, the fair well on their own.
Toodles.
