Many of you know I have recently obtained a female cobalt blue tarantula (haplopelma lividium). One of their main characteristics is that they web themselves an really nice cozy home. I took pictures over the days of Kitana webbing her burrow. This all happened in approx. 10-14 days.

Amazing how much they web eh? I think the only species I have seen web heavier is the Usambaras... the entire tank is webbing!

By the way, how long do Cobalt Blue male/female live up to. I think when I'm ready, I'll probably go for one.

Pixie, very nice set up you have for her.. my female C. blue was the same darker color like yours. Her name was "Devil In A Blue Dress" and devil she was.. she had this tunnel that went all over her tank and she would only come out at night when i had the black lights on.. she was one wicked T.. She would fly out of her burrow when i would open her tank door for feeding or watering so ya never knew when she was gona get ya.. she was one cool T to work with.. she loved her pinkie mice. I ended up selling her to a guy in Cal. As far as the best webbers go Usambaras do one great job at that mine webb up there whole tank.. and there is one other T that truly takes the cake for all time webbers its the Mergi redish brown.. :)

So far, I've been "lucky" with the temperment of my cobalt blue, knock on wood!!! I sure ain't counting on her to always be so nice!!! I've read up a lot on their behaviors and temperment that I expect her to start showing it soon.

So far though, she has been a quiet girl. Never moves a millimeter in daylight and everytime I've had to open her tank for water or food, she didn't budge a bit.

Doesn't seem like the brightest one either!!! She seems to enjoy her burrow very much but everytime she leaves it, she closes up the entrance with substrate then doesn't seem to know how to get back in!!! If I reopen the hole for her, and sure enough I'll find her in her burrow the next morning. Weird!
