I just had a lone E. tricolor (Phantasmal Dart Frog) tadpole get its back legs about 2 months after the rest of its siblings had already come out of the water! I had just left it in one of the plastic sweater boxes that I raise my tads in, kind of expecting it to pack it in at some point in time, when to my surprise it just kept on going. I fed it the spirulina flakes and Sera Micron food that my tadpoles get, and this morning it had back legs. I still expect it might end up with spindly front legs, but I'm pulling for him/her just the same. Anybody else ever had tads go so far past the time when they should have morphed into froglets?

hey,

well this is a common issue with tads. You should check your water quality because that is the main factor to this slow development. my friend who breeds golden mantellas has been raising his tads since septemeber and they are only starting to morph out now.

don't think that spiney legg syndrom is an issue here. You can see these dease very easily. if the leggs look stumped or crocked than it probably had SLS. well hope this helps. oh ya check pictures on the net but in jewels of the rainforest there are some good pictures that show what this desease looks like.
