Tank Size?

What size enclosure do you guys house you Savannah Monitors in? whay is a good size for one? what is a goos size for a piar? Pics would be goos also.

Well for a savannah monitor I've heard you needed a big enclosure like about a 100 gal. tank when adults or bigger and a 50 for juvi's.Thats why I changed my mind and decided to get a water monitor and plus those savannahs are huge but still are good pets(thats what I hear).

aim sorry but you must be confusing water monitor with water dragon Right? W Monitors can be 100+ ponds when adult.

lol ya i think u confused it a bit water monitors get bigger then savanah monitors.
are you talking about a water dragon???
if so they need a way bigger cage then a savanah too???
what animal are you talking abaut???
and i'm not sure what size cage you need for a adult, i had a juvi in 4 foot long by 2 foot wide and 2.5 foot high

The cage i am going to be building in the next little while is going to be 6' long,3' wide, and 2.5' high.

I would like to build the enclosure bigger but i have to be able to fit it through the door in my building.

What I did for my 6X3X2 enclosure is...

1. Design it out, how you want it to look(I have a plexiglass viewing window on one side)
2. calculate what it's going to cost you, supplies, labour, tools...etc
3. Get the supplies. for mine, the supplies cost about $150 CDN, that included the nails, screws, wood, plexiglass, heavy-duty wire screen, latches, and hinges. (did the labour myself and borrowed tools(Jigsaw, exacto knife, hammer, drill bit complete set, and circular saw)
4. Get the supplies into the house/appartment first and build it in the room. I made the mistake of building mine in my garage, and then had the daunting task of heaving it up stairs. Lucky it fit.

I would recommed no smaller than a 6X3X2 for savs. And even that may be a little small. Better off to go to a 8X4X4, that would be ideal. If you find that you may not have enough room to house this type of monitor...I would suggest getting an Ackie. A very inquisitive, intelligent and interesting monitor. The Varanus Acanthurus(Red or Yellow) is also very handlable, and very monitarily affordable. Not to mention easy to house. Yellow Ackies only tend to grow to about 16-22 inches at largest. And red's tend to be a little bigger than that, most reaching 20 inches. I have my trio of yellows in a 4X2X2 and this will house them all for the rest of thier lives. (I am currently in the final stages of construction for my 6x3x2)

I just searched up some quick info on those guys and they look pretty cool. I think i may get two of those instead of one Savannah :monkey:. How much were those guys?

in canada i believe they run about 500 for yellows and more for reds.

You can get them from breeders(which is what I suggest to do) for around 450-600. More expensive initially, but in the long run it will be MUCH less expensive.

Forsure, should be no problem. As soon as I am able to, I will send them to all who want them.

It will be in the next two weeks, I have to draw them all out by hand and then scan them.
