Well I have a male veiled chameleon, approximately eight months old. Lately, he has been acting really weird (for the past few days). He has been really angry, ususally he is a sweet little guy. Anytime I walk by the cage, he gets pissed and opens his mouth. Through my experience, I figured he was in heat. Now, this may be the problem however there were a few other things. Usually, he poo's in one big line of lumps. Recently, however, he has started to poo in circles, peice by peice so to say. Second, he has started lifting his nose to the air and swallowing. Any help would be really appreciated.
Hello!
Sounds like you have the typical male Veiled there. They are recommended as a good hardy chameleon for the beginner, but that comes with a price. They are the foulest, mean tempered critters out there.
The poops don't particularly sound wrong to me. As long as they are normal and a reasonable consistency, I wouldn't worry about it. He is just getting bigger, therefore bigger sized poops.
The breathing is a bit of a concern for me. Perhaps he is just looking for something to drink. Mine do this when they are thirsty or after they have had their drink. Does yours do this after you have misted him?
Watch for any problems breathing, crustiness around his nostrils, any pussy buildup in this mouth. If you see this, a trip to the vet is warranted.
Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot. Yea when I saw him do it, it was right after he had taken a drink.
Great news! :D Sounds like you've got a normal chameleon there!
Cheers!
