I've heard pf people injecting prey items with water before feeding. Do any of you do this? Doesn't it make the prey more likely to rupture? Is there a specific area of the body that you inject the water into? I am very interested in hearing everyone's opinions on this!

We thaw in water so they already pick up some water that way. If i was injecting something it would probably be oral meds

some people actually do inject water into prey before feeding if the species is more prone to dehydration. THis will give the snake the water it needs without worrying about it drinking from the bowl or from misting
I have never done it, so Im not sure where (but i would guess in the belly).

I do inject water into prey items, but this only for certain species like Matt said: e.g. bitis gabonica which like to sit beside water dish but not drinking at all. For injection, I usually inject water into the chest cavity since there is ribs, when the snake bite the prey, the force won't burst the body. The amount usually is around 1-2 ml for a mice is sufficient. If the species has a slow digestion, biostatic water may be used.
