Well, this may stir things up a bit, but to those of you that think hybredizing is a sin, I say, "don't do it". For me it's NP.
In this photo taken at mid-day today, both animals had just cleared up after being opaque, but neither had shed yet. They had been together on numerous occasions previously with no interest, then on day 10 their latest cohabitation, bam!
Very odd behavior, but what do I know.....
The genetics produced by a coupling like this will be unique. Combining what is truely one of the rarest Basin morphs in captivity (<i>Matejo Basin</i>) with one of the scarcer northern morphs (<i>New Local Northerns</i>). I have my fingers crossed and no idea what will emerge. Unfortunately my last crossing project (Black Northern -x- Basin) produced only 5 stillborn babies.
I'm hoping for better luck this year. Keep an eye on my site if it interests you. And please, if you're not a fan of hybreds, just ignore it. We've heard all the arguments, and believe that everyone is entitled to opinion, but, why waste time rehashing?

He He Joe,
I'm guessing that the basin is the female! Kinda hard to determine from this pic. Wow, the basin is really dark and looks very similar to the Leshock female I got from Matt. Although I'm not fond of crosses, the results could be interesting! Good luck, I'll be watching for neo pics in Sept. or Oct.

You mean Deron Hartman right?
I remember him selling this animal at the '01 Daytona expo, not in '99 I was
lucky enough to visit with him and his father at the expo for a night,
hanging back in his hotel room.
And I also remember Deron selling it as one of the animals he brought back
from Raul Henzin (sp?) in Suriname, never once mentioning anything about any
Matejo basin. It's not hard to remember as I'm a good friend of Deron's and
know that he only had a few emeralds, mainly northerns and one basin, a
reduced pattern female, aka, your Matejo.
I dont know Joe your story is not really sticking here.
Hummmm, this very same (Matejo Basin) was reported to be offered to a well respected breeder for $300 less than the 1K you paid and it was turned down many times. But that not with standing, do you have ANY locality specific verifiable field collection data to prove you claims of the origin of this animal? Or are you simply claiming it to be a(Matejo Basin) do to it's outwardly less than average dull appearance?
Seems one as high profile as yourself can see that with out ANY verifiable locality specific collection data to back your claims, than it's just an ugly basin from nowhere specific that you paid to much for.
Nice sales pitch though.
LMAO

Believe less ½ of what you hear and know that the other half is most likely wrong.
In short, prove your claim with hard data not your sales pitch.

One of the advantages of being a well known individual who's been around the herp community for 40 years now and one who is generally thought of by everyone worth worrying (<i>I'm afraid that excludes your little click</i>) about to be of unquestioned integrity is that people tend to accept such individuals at their word. I realize that this is a completely foreign concept for you Tim, but as strange as that may seem to you, it actually does happen. However, not to worry, it will certainly never be anything that will happen for you.
I could be wrong, but generally speaking the phrase "sales pitch" implies that I'm attempting to sell something. Did I somehow give the impression that I was selling these? Again, you have no need to trouble yourself, if I were lucky enough to produce a litter from this pairing; you would certainly never be able to afford one. The funny thing about that is that I've been known to give animals away quite often. By the time any babies are born of this pairing you may not have any animals left anyway if things proceed as I expect them to.
Fortunately, for most folks, my word is all proof I need to supply. That's because I make sure that my integrity is reflected through my actions, and not just my rhetoric. I know, it's another foreign concept for you, but that is really of little concern to me.
Take good care of the animals now.
PS... Incidently, you should look up the meaning of the phrase "well healed" as it certainly would be exclusionary to anyone of your ilk.

So in other words, you have nothing in the way of proof to your locality claims but your word. And EVERYONE knows how good that is these days.
As to your comment about buying anything from you. I already purchased one of your PUKERS, why would I even bother buying another from you. ROTFLMAO
Just what we all figured.
And as for your alleged "unquestioned integrity", please feel free to read the following thread and skip over my posts and read EVERYONE else's posts about that topic. You know all these guys, Buddy G., Trooper Walsh, Tom Burns, Danny Mendez, Matt Lerer, Bobby Pruett. Seems to be some pretty good company if you ask me.
Just for your...... (http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=99)

p.s. Thanks for the threats, they have been added to our file for future needs.
