Hey there :)
Right now I have 2, 10 gallon tanks one with 1.2 mice the other with 1.4 mice. I was wondering how many mice can fit in them since they are of course breeding and will have litters. I dont want it to be too crowded since it could be unhealthy and its no prob to go to the store to buy another tank. But I see like the pet stores and breeders on the internet pack the cages full

When I kept mice in 10 gallon tanks, I found that 1.2 or 1.3 females was enough, once the litter got to weaning age, and they were then moved out into another tank. While you might be able to keep weanlings in with the adults if you are killing a lot as pinkies or fuzzies, if you want most of them growing up, they will be pretty crowded with all the babies from even 2 females in a 10 gallon by the time they are 4 weeks old.

If you are going to buy more housing, I also suggest that you consider inexpensive rubbermaid type containers. They are cheaper, lighter weight and much easier to clean than aquariums. You also get more floor space for the same amount of money, so unless you wnat to be able to see the mice, the rubbermaid type tubs are great. We just replaced the lids with a wooden frame one covered with hardware screen and put a couple holes in one side to attach a water bottle with cable ties. We use the tall ones so there is room for a wheel and an igloo house, but you can use flatter ones, you just have to attach the lid more firmly. These house breeding groups of up to 1.6 and babies until weaning age, when all the weanlings go into a separate tub.

Well you know I would but I live in an apartment and Im kinda tapped for space. As soon as the female mice that have breeding are almost ready to pop I plan on putting them in a 30 gallon tank that I have another female with 12 babies that are 11 days old. When the babies are ok to move I'll do the switch. I also have another 30 gallon tank but I dont think I can fit it in my room and Id like to avoid having them in the livingroom cause my mom comes over and will absolutely freak if she sees mice. the shelving I have in my room will fit 2 10 gallon tanks side by side on 3 shelves.
I only have 3 ball pythons at the moment so I know for a fact that I am going to be over run so I will thin out the numbers depending how well certain breeders produce and take care of thier young. I started out with a bit more actually but Ive been thinning out the ones that have bad attitudes. I actually had one male that would attack (as in biting ;) ) the females.
