Hey guys, I'm planning on buying a Mexican Red Knee, and I know that these guys flick hair when aggitated/bothered.
But just wanted to know if anyone know any T's that grows fairly large, colourful, and especially doesn't flick hair.
Sorry soo picky, but I just think that I'm going to get seriously bothered with the hair being flicked in the air that I breathe.
Also pictures will help as well and average price on each T (sub adult). Thanks in advance everyone.
Paolo.
Paolo, Tarantulas flick hairs in defence and won't flick them if they don't feel threatened.

how about a goliath bird eater?? lol
Flicking hairs is a common defense mecanism in tarantulas, it may be hard to find a species that doesn't flick at all. The red knees tend to flick a bit more than others but they are also known as being a docile species. Regular handling sessions will minimize stress and in time hair flicking will be a rare thing.
I still recommend a red knee or any other from the brachypelma family as your first T. Mine was very handleable when I first purchased her and probably still is, she's always been very calm. Only has flicked hair twice in the 2 1/2 - 3 years that I've had her. I just prefer not to handle my tarantulas, that's just me.
I just say don't rule them out just cause of flicking hairs.

Yeah just like I thought. Oh well, I guess I'm going to have to deal with it. I'm probably going to still go for a M Red KNee.

We have a pink toe who is gorgeous. She is very fast, tho.....lol. Pink toes do not flick hairs, they actually have to press their abdomen against you to imbed the hairs in you. Just a thought.
