I am going absolutely mad trying to get my female IJ to eat rats... She is large enough to eat 10 mice a sitting, which is irritating because a) she eats slow! b) my mice supply is drying up, and buying 10 mice is bloody expensive c) she is eating more bone and fur than meat and fat.
I've tried scenting, thawing a rat with a mouse, a live rat pup and chain feeding. Nothing works. When I chain feed, she vomits the mouse and rat. When I scent, IF she strikes she drops it right away.
Does chicken broth really work? How about chicks, might she like them? I am really getting desperate, I'd like to be big enough to breed next year but at this rate she'll never getting bigger than 4ft!

Thanks!

ONe of my males was real tough to change to rats. So after cooling I only offered rats, he did not take it rigt away. I tried once a week for 4 weeks before he took a rat, and he now eats anything.
It might seem like your not helping your growing her "problem" by letting her not eat, but once on rats it will speed things up. I think it should be easy enough for you as she already strikes at rats.
