View Full Version : Cooling question
I hope that this isn't too stupid of a question. How would you go about keeping your cage temps within range in the summer? The reason I'm asking is because last summer we had alot of days above 90 degrees F. Would an air conditioned room be the only option? Thanks.

Umm.. I really dont know about the whole summer thing with them because I got mine during the winter so I havn't experienced summer conditions with them yet.
I think that you can pop an a/c in the room, but be carefully of the temp and see if it does go down. If it does throw a spot lamp up on the warm side and pop in a 50w lamp. If you have a heating pad underneath then it should be ok.
My windows would be open a bit in the winter and with the cold air coming in from the window and the warmth from the lamp and pad had my temp between 70-80 F, if the temp goes up past 85 then turn the lamp off for a bit then the temp will go down. If its too cold just turn the a/c off for a bit and the temp will go up.
Again im not sure about the whole thing, but that's what I'm basically planing on doing when summer hits. Hopefully I've been some help to you Zoom,
Happy Cresting
a/c is fine as long as you keep an eye on the humidity level.
Another option is to use a basement if you have one, you'll need a reliable heat source but it's more cost effective than a/c.
Good luck :)

I'd say air conditioning. Leave some windows open. Put some fans in room. Put ice on the cages,LOL just kidding. Thats all i really know
Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll just have to play it by ear and see how it goes. I think that a small A/C for just that room will be what I do and obviously be very vigilent watching the temps.
