At how many posts do you change from a neonate to whatever I'll be next? What are the intervals and names for each level?

Quality of posts is more important than quantity.

Well Said!
Just had to post to get closer to my first star.....

quality of posts are good as long as they are writen when you go and rate a pic in the galarie it gives you a post so if you are star hunting just go look at some pics and rate it with a number it is the best, fastes, honest way of geting your stars
Chondro.... is it really honest? There is no prizes for the people with the most stars or the most posts!
I'm sure glad I DON'T have to concern myself with this "star" and "level" issue!
Sorry, I'm venting! (Other mods: feel free to delete my post if necessary!)

Star Hunter?
**slapping forehead**
I would rather have no star system. I get the impression that people are rating their experience by the number of stars nd posts. ANYONE can post alot or rate pics or whatever. Just so there are no misconceptions: Star Rating has absolutley nothing to do with experience or knowledge.
I agree. The whole star thing is stupid. And whats even dumber is the constant new threads saying "Look I got another star"!!! Wow! You have an extra html grpahic after your name! *LOL*
Sorry not being rude, just being honest and having a little fun at the stars expense. *L*

Marisa, how did you get rid of your stars? I want that too! ;)
BWSmith...honestly...I did it long ago. So long ago in fact I can't find it again now!!!! Maybe a Mod can tell us, because I just searched everywhere in the user options and prefrences and couldn't find it.

How did you get rid of them? I tried. Let the secret out.
I honestly can't find the area again :( Sorry guys.
Maybe they removed the ability to get rid of them???

I agree...stars have no bearing on knowledge. Look at me...I have over 1000 posts and I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination.
Mostly, I relate advice that I have found to be common from many other sources, in an attempt to be helpful. Most of all, I try to advocate the use of common sense.

it is a honest way if it would not be the site would not alow it i just colect them for the shear plesure of it I am no better then any one else I dont asociat stars to knowlege I asociat it with the lenght of time some one has ben here. I feel that the ppl that have ben here from the start but cant suport the site finacialy should have somthing under there name I hope that when I am here for a year or 2 that ppl can see that I was dedicated to the site and if I had that many stares I stayed for a reason ( the great ppl) who help me throw ruff herping times.

Geez, guys, I was just curious! I think the star system is kinda cute, and I didn't mean to imply that more stars = a better/more experienced herper, or even that I wanted more stars. It's just a silly little thing to look at!

It was not aimed at you. There have been LOTS of threads similar to this one. Just had to vent ;)

o.O I never relized it was such a big issue...
learn something everyday, I guess. ;)
Apparently everyone has to have stars because shortly after I wrote in this thread my line "Yep That's Me" was removed and my stars returned. I have had no stars for over a year. I have had the line "Yep That's Me" for over a year.
I was also unware anyone was changing it. I asked two mods about it but niether knew why my stars were put back after so long. I do understand that it may not be "fair" because others can't remove theirs but I had mine gone for not only a year, but I don't want them now! And I never did.
*shrug*
Marisa
how did you get rid of them in the first place?
Zoe
Well as I stated before, I couldn't remember. I did it so long ago that I could no longer find the area that I replaced the stars with my line.
But my line remained unchanged until I wrote in this thread, which I am now regretting. Its not a big deal, but I didn't want them in the first place, thats why I removed them. If the feature to change your stars and replace them with a phrase was removed then thats fine, but my line didn't change until this thread came about which was about a full year later.
Marisa
Oops, guess I missed that. Sorry.
Yeah, the option must be gone, as you're the only person I've seen with anything other than stars or trophies up there.
Zoe
Yeah I guess so!

I dont know about this but i keep reptiles 'cause i love um. I dont know about the rest of you.
Personally I like when people tell me the pic I posted is good (it would also be nice if they posted what they like about it), and if there is something they don't like about the pic it would be nice if they posted that too. It shows that the pic I posted was good enough or bad enough to evoke a reaction.

I agree. I like feedback on pics for the same reason Lisa stated.

LOL I did not know you get $2000 after that many posts. Geez! I just come to these forums for the fun of it :D

Man, if they had these kind of forums on ks . com I would already have 5 billion posts or how many ever that was, AND my 2 thousand bucks! lol. After being there for about 3 or 4 years you kinda get that high :p

Dude, Herp Guy... can you try to EDIT your posts if you wanna add something to the thread?! You don't need 2 or 3 posts in a row just to get to the stupid little star. Just post for the fun of it and to learn more, and ask questions. What are you trying to prove?? That you're annoying!!

I agree with RachelS---it does not matter what your name is, how many posts you have, or how many pretty little yellow stars you have. People will base thier opinion of you on your words that you type, not by your name. Quality is better then quantity, in this case.

The worst are the people who go to the Welcome forum and fill in "welcome!" to a million trillion posts, even if they've already welcomed those people! I mean it's great to make people feel welcome, don't get me wrong... it's just annoying to see that.. Agreed with BW about the quality over quantity... although it'd be great to have a ton of great, informative posts! Unfortunately that's not always the case... haha, maybe there should be a 10 word limit? Meaning any posts under 10 words don't actually count as a post... lol that'd be cool! Then you'd start getting more feedback on pictures... and people who just wanted more stars could actually take the time to give their opinion on what they did/didn't like!
I like that idea :D
Kate
PS - AGREED about the editing bit...
PPS - jpaulson, I want that bumper sticker! lol
I agree with Lisa and kate because i like it when people post feed back on my pics, but it would be nice if people would say what they like about it. The 10 word min. makes sense to me.(I have most likely been 'guilty' of posting "nice pic" or something like that a few times)

I think we all are, but not necessarily for the reasons of gaining more stars... I usually try and say what I like, even if it's not "I like your picture taking techniques" just something I've noticed about that species, etc...

that reminds me of the thread where some one tried to post a pic but didn't and people were going "nice pic" even though there was nothing to see.

HAHAHA! That's the saddest thing I've ever seen... usually if I don't see the picture, I let them know so that if others don't see it either it can be fixed ... hahha oh man that's sad...

Well ladies, sometimes if you view the properties of the "pic that never was" and paste it's URL on to your address bar, the pic will show up!
So there! ;)

I'm talking about when there is no properties because when they tried to attach a photo it was too big or they forgot to hit the browse button.
