Hello Yves temps are 80f min and basking 130f max, as for UV aim not going to discus this but, all living organism need the sun rays, even nocturnal animals. The way they get the suns benefits, is by feeding on diurnal plants and prey, simply said nothing on this planet who’d survive without the sun. Personally my monitors are not exposed to sun rays, but I grow my food to feed my rodents and insects outside.
A full adult male will be fine in a 6 by3 by2 feet cage, on a side note feed your prey animals, with carrots and gold fish color food, these are rich in beta carotene, beta carotene is part of jobiensis natural foods, and this is why they have such nice coloration. Feed it and see the difference!

I like to feed live but only young rodents, that are easily overpowered and have no way to injure the monitor, if frozen I just dump rodents in hot tab water until ready and feed no special preparation. Feed those smaller items as jobi’s are the raptors of the monitor world, they tear everything up. Cheers

That’s where peoples are mistaking, CB jobiensis and Doreanus of all localities, are the most endearing and beautiful of all the monitor clan, that’s why they are my favourite, cb don’t exhibit flight behaviour as WC do, they actually run at you for food, if allowed to they will jump on you and investigate for food, just throw a pinkie in the cage and off they go. As I said many times the only draw back is there needle claws, but that’s common to many monitors.
I have an amassing photo of six adult Jobiensis dispatching a rabbit; I will try to find it for you to see. Regards

Steeve,
That's one hell of a generous thing you are doing for ssnakess.com Well done...
If you are going to have any Peach Throat hatchlings in about 6 months or so. (When I have the funds) Let me know PM or e-mail.
Thanks
yeah i agree steve....i also really liked your way of selling the croc monitor on the classifieds...how the buyer has to watch it hatch. how did that go anyways?

Norman at first this seemed like a good idea, and I was going to do it with other monitors as well, but the problem is monitors don’t hatch on command, and the pour guy is anxiously waiting for my phone call, this is almost mental cruelty. But I believe when this is over and I deposit an egg with the crocs head sticking out in his hands, he will never sell those babies. the fun thing about croc monitors is you can sex them with only there heads, so he will choose a pair on the spot, This is what I hope for every monitors I sell, but unfortunately peoples changes and so those there needs and or likings, after all we are only humans. Kind regards

Aim sorry I have to disagree here, first they don’t get that big, in fact they are easier to house then black throat or salvator, as they are arboreal by nature. This makes them an awesome display animal, as they are almost always on display. Also they are real acrobats very VERY interesting to watch. Next they are far from aggressive, but they are dangerous because of there teeth and claws. Sorong types are very shy, Merauke are real nice and gentle, but remember what’s your definition of aggressive? I have Dumeril that are aggressive! I also have Nil’s that are real puppies.
To me what’s most important, perhaps even more then one’s experience is to obtain a monitor that strikes a spark!!
Providing one can house and feed it, I see this time and time again, peoples buying monitors they don’t like because it was cheep or the sales man said that’s a good beginners monitor bla bla, theirs no such thing as a beginners monitor, when it comes to varanid we are the beginners, even after years of keeping them we still are. Everything depends on us, regardless of the animal we keep; only our dedication will determine any outcome. Many years ago I sold a pair of mertensis to a guy, he was telling me how these monitors where his dream monitors and they who’d be treated like kings and bla bla, so I sold him the pair telling him everything he needs to know plus call me anytime day or knight. It took about 2 months for this Idiot to kill them, he was always to busy to do water changes. That’s the only thing experience has tot me, you are the only judge as only you know how you are dedicated, if you’re the kind of guy to get new or expensive things just to show off, keep out of the hobby, no amount of money can justify killing endangered animals. This is not directed at you but only a general message. Kind regards

ok thanx i know what you mean i hate it when people buy iguanas cuz they are the nice green color ,take care of them and all, but then after like 2-3 years they get big. duh!!! then they just throw the animal away like a piece of carbage to die a slow death on the street i HATE HATE HATE IT. if you don't do the reasearch and know about the animal DO NOT GET IT , OK N O T not. understand.
thank you
but anyway how big do they get???
thank you
yves
