Hi all!

So I posted on here earlier to find out about bearded dragon enclosure. I got no replies. So I scraped my idea.
Now I'm pretty sure I'm doing things right but want to make sure of one thing. I built a 4fx2fx2f 3/4 inch birch plywood enclosure. I'm wanting to put 1in x 4 in x 46.5 in lip on the top and bottom of the enclosure using pine. And framing in the opening with 1x2 pine to make my opening 16in x 45 in.
That will be the only pine in the enclosure and I'm going to coat the inside of the box and exposed pine with polyurethane. I'm putting sliding glass doors on. I have a 600w 10.5 inch dome heat lamp 300w clamp lamp I was going to use a 150w uva uvb heat lamp offset one side so I can set up less light areas across from the light.
I'm new to this so any help would be wonderful.

You could have made the entire enclosure out of pine as long as you seal it with paint or polyurethane; making the front out of pine won't be an issue.

I don't keep bearded dragons but I may be inclined to make the bottom piece in the front 6" or so to help contain the substrate. This will be helpful because you're planning to use sliding doors, the lizard will kick up substrate all over the place, and it will get stuck in the tracks. Keep in mind that 6" is just a rough measurement, you can adjust it to accommodate the glass you are planning to use for your door.

I'm not sure I understand your heating situation. A 150 watt bulb is going to create a lot of heat all by itself, so you probably won't need a whole lot more wattage to create the heat you need.

I'm sorry. I meant a 300 watt capacity 10.5 inch dome socket running a 160w uvb bulb. I was going to use red brick on the bottom and use red stepping stones to make caves in a few spots. I was going to leave out bricks in some spots and level out gaps with pink play sand so half the bottom is brick and half sand. I have a hardwood dresser I repurposed that I'm putting a glass door on as well. That one I was planning to have a deeper substrate for digging in. I'm planning in the future sometime after I'm comfortable with reptile husbandry linking the 2 enclosures by a PVC pipe. I'm building 2 actual bearded enclosures together because I want my own and my gf wants her own and her son wants his own. So the 4x2x2 is supposed to house them all. But I wanted an extra one just in case there's aggression. If I had to seperate 3 lizards in 3 cages quickly I couldn't safely. But with 2 cages running together I feel I'm ready to rumble.

Hey mate, if your keeping more than one bearded dragon together, I would recommend an enclosure of these dimensions- 6ftL, 2ftW, 2ftH. I would consider these the minimum dimensions for three bearded dragons. Also if you are keeping three beardies together, make sure that its either 2 females and a male or 3 females. If you house two males together its most likely going to end in a fight.
Hope this helps.
