Here is the photo of the 1st clutch of my 1 of 2 fem fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra) The next day (yesterday night) she bred 7 more tadpoles. Until now she has bred 14 tadpoles and the 9 of them are alive. I give them tiny (hatchling) crickets to eat. Lucky for me i breed crickets so i can have some - here in Greece it's so hard to find crickets. What else can i give them to eat? I will not have always hatchling crickets! :( ... and the only thing it comes to my mind is leaving a piece of fruit to rott in their enclosure to have fruitflies. Cheers ~Greg~ http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/503/1646salamandra_salamandra_tadpoles.jpg http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/503/1646salamandra_salamandra-trio2-med.jpg

Hatchling salamanders are not called tadpoles, they are called nymphs or larvae.

Hatchling frogs & Toads are called tadpoles.

fruit flies would be a good alternative to the crickets. have you tried culturing them? this would ensure a constant supply, more consistent then attracting them with fruit.

Yeah, The others put it down good. Fruit flies would be a good alternative. I am planning on culturing them soon .

Hope that helps.
