Baby king snake eating backwards

So i have had my king snake for a few months.. He is still in QT a this time. I have noticed since the first time I fed him that he eats his prey butt first. With pinkies they were always so small I never really worried about them as he got them down in under a minute. But I just switched him to fuzzies and he is still doing the same thing. What can I try other then heating the head up a bit more then the body to get him to start head first as this has not worked yet.
He is in a small shoebox tub as he is to small to put in a 10gallon tank I feel. Suggestions would be great.

Try using tongs to hold the prey and offer it to the snake head first. Some snakes like it when you use the tongs to make the mouse "dance," others prefer the mouse to stay motionless.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much as long as he’s eating and keeping it down. One of my carpets has eaten his last two meals tail first and those were large rats. I figure they know their limits better than I do.
