Just before we were going to sex this Adult Jungle Carpet at Reptile Head Quarters this afternoon, He decided he would rather be fed then probed.
So he locked down and constricted my arm as if i was a tasty treat.
Hes usually tame as a puppy, but not today.

The more we tried to get him off, the tighter his grip got.
After 10 minutes or so, i ran his head under cold water and he let go right away.
except he punctured a vein , which has since gone down.
Just goes to show you to expect the worse and to never trust em.
ill still handle him with bare hands, just a bit more careful next time and after hes nice and fed. lol
This pic gives you a good idea of the two rows of teeth on these guys....

Enjoy,

Wow, nice battle scars man! I would also rather be fed than probed, can't blame a fellow man, or animal in this case, for that! :)

LOL guys

I should just me more careful next time.
Ive always known Carpets to be somewhat aggressive, but this was always so tame up to this point.

They're still an amzing species, ones that i have taken a fast liking too.

Dont forget.. He constricted you .. NOT out of a deffense stand point but simply out of a feeding response... If it was defense he would of bitten and let go ..

Cool marking though!

Sweet Grant. What an awesome bite you got there. Glad it wasn't your lip though! Wouldn't want to mar that pretty boy face!!

Note to self, next time I probe a large snake, have control of head.

The carpets are problematic to probe as I hear. The tissues inside are more delicate and easier to tear. I guess that's why he got so antsy on ya!
